As part of the core mission of the Engaging With Vietnam conference series to promote new scholarship, we are dedicated to helping conference participants publish their work. In the past we have publishing conference proceedings, and we will do so again for the 9th Engaging With Vietnam conference that was held Dec.-Jan., 2017-18.
In addition, we are implementing a new initiative this year in collaboration with the Journal of Vietnamese Studies (JVS), a major international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to promoting original scholarship on and about Vietnam. In particular, we will seek to publish the best papers from this year’s conference in JVS, and we have set up a process to help guide the authors of the best papers towards that goal.
This will include working with the authors in a proposed summer workshop in Vietnam (in the summer of 2018) to guide the authors into strengthening their papers for peer-review. Logistical support required for the summer workshop will be provided by University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, with expertise and mentoring provided by Engaging With Vietnam.
This initiative will be directed by Jamie Gillen (National University of Singapore), Phan Le Ha and Liam C. Kelley (University of Hawaii at Manoa)
